If you are benefit eligible, you also have long-term disability coverage at no cost to you. Should you become injured or ill with the inability to perform the substantial duties of your occupation, this district-provided coverage could assist with income replacement starting at 60 calendar days up to a time period as determined by the insurance carrier. The long-term disability coverage either starts after a waiting period of 60 calendar days or, if you chose to enroll, is an extension of the voluntary short-term disability coverage.
The long-term disability plan is managed by National Insurance Services and information about coverage, benefits, and frequently asked questions can be found here.
