Whitnall Child Find
As part of Wisconsin’s Child Find requirement, Whitnall School District is responsible for locating children who are not yet school-age and evaluating them for possible disabilities. Child Find activities extend to all children attending public and private schools within the Whitnall School District boundaries, as well as children who are homeless. To meet this requirement, we host Child Development Day and invite any children who are 3 years old to participate in our screening. The screening is conducted in order to identify children with potential developmental delays (such as speech, social-emotional/behavioral, learning, etc.), in order to provide early interventions. Participation in the screening is free and voluntary.
If you have a child that is 3 years old and you are interested in participating in the Child Find process, please complete this form. Upon completion of this survey, parents will be asked to complete an Ages & Stages Questionnaire, which is a screening tool that assesses a child’s development in five areas. A school psychologist will reach out after the tool is reviewed. If needed, an in-person screening will be scheduled to review the following developmental areas: speech and language, cognitive, personal-social, adaptive, motor skills, vision, and hearing. The in-person screenings are play-based and are conducted with the child's parent/guardian present.
Questions can be emailed to Jackie Winter, Director of Pupil Services
