A Knowledge-a-thon is a fundraiser that doesn't require anyone to buy or sell anything but has the potential to raise a lot of money for our school. This fundraiser will give our children the opportunity to grown in their learning all the while raising much needed money for our school.
Knowledge-A-Thon FAQ
Ø What is a Knowledge-A-Thon (otherwise known as KAT)?
The Knowledge-A-Thon is designed to be a low cost/ high profit fundraiser with 100% of the proceeds going to the school. During the Knowledge-A-Thon, students will answer questions developed from their classroom teachers based on the information they have learned during the school year. Before the event, students will collect pledges from family and friends.
Ø Where will the money go that is raised from the event?
This year, all proceeds are going towards the purchase of a Gaga Pit for the HCE Playground - What is a Gaga Pit?
Ø Does my child need to study for this? How many questions are there? Where do the questions come from?
Your child does not need to study at home for this. The questions will be taken from grade level curriculum. There will be 10 questions for K4, 25 questions for K5 and 30 questions for grades 1-5. The students will work in teams of 4-6 to answer questions so everyone will feel successful.
Ø What can our family do to help?
Help your child get pledges. Pledges can come from friends, family members, or businesses and can be for any amount. Students can ask for a per questions pledge amount or a straight donation.
