HOMEBOUND INSTRUCTION

Homebound instruction is an educational support program designed for students who are unable to attend school due to medical reasons. The program is for students who are unable to attend school for short periods of time. Requests for homebound instruction must be substantiated by a health care provider and approved by the school district.

The school team will design a homebound plan for each student based on student need and ability to tolerate instruction. Homebound plans are typically created to support priority academic areas and not all academic areas lend themselves well to this type of instruction.

Homebound instruction is not tutoring nor does it replace a student's typical school schedule. Staff will utilize technology to share information and communicate with parent(s)/guardian(s) and the student.

To request homebound instruction for your student, please complete the Physician's Statement -- Homebound Instruction Form. For additional information about homebound instruction, please review the DPI Frequently Asked Questions or contact Jackie Winter, Director of Pupil Services
