8th Grade
Technology education in the 8th grade will be offered as an elective and will be offered in two formats. One as a quarterly class in the Paxton Patterson action lab and the other as a quarterly class taught in the traditional classroom setting.
COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY (Paxton Patterson Action Lab) - The focus of this course will be technology in today's world. Students will have the opportunity to complete a series of Paxton Patterson modules with time allowed for further exploration and application. Action modules include Audio Communication, Computer Graphics and Animation, CAD, Digital Music, Energy and Power, Environment and Ecology, Health and Fitness, Flight Technology, Information Technology, Laser Technology, Mechanisms, Robotics, Structural Engineering, Video Production, and Virtual Architecture. This course is for the student that enjoys technology and the self-paced environment of the Paxton Patterson lab.
TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION (Traditional) - This course is a combination of traditional technology education themes of communication, construction, manufacturing, and transportation focusing on construction, communication, and energy and power. The curriculum builds on the skills of design, physics, and wood learned in 6th and 7th grades. Students will explore the layout, design, architecture, sight layout, and energy and power requirements needed to construct buildings in a project based environment. This course is for the student who enjoys hands-on building and construction.
