6th Grade

Curriculum in the technical education class is a combination of traditional tech ed skills of design, physics and woods, and Paxton Patterson Modules in the newer technologies of audio communication, CAD, computer graphics, energy and power, environment and ecology, flight technology, laser technology, robotics, structural engineering, video production, virtual architecture, and facilities maintenance.  Students have the opportunity of completing some modules each year.

7th Grade

Curriculum in the 7th grade technology education class builds on the 6th grade curriculum themes of Communication, Construction, Manufacturing and Transportation with a focus on woodworking and safety.  The Paxton Patterson technology lab is an integral part of the curriculum as it strengthens and broadens student understanding of technology in today's work place.  Modules include the newer technologies of Audio Communication, Computer Graphics and Animation, CAD, Digital Music, Energy and Power, Environment and Ecology, Health and Fitness, Flight Technology, Information Technology, Laser Technology, Mechanisms, Robotics, Structural Engineering, Video Production, and Virtual Architecture.  Students rotate into the lab to complete the ten day modules several times during the quarter class.

8th Grade

Technology education in the 8th grade will be offered as an elective and will be offered in two formats.  One as a quarterly class in the Paxton Patterson action lab and the other as a quarterly class taught in the traditional classroom setting.

COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY (Paxton Patterson Action Lab) - The focus of this course will be technology in today's world.  Students will have the opportunity to complete a series of Paxton Patterson modules with time allowed for further exploration and application. Action modules include Audio Communication, Computer Graphics and Animation, CAD, Digital Music, Energy and Power, Environment and Ecology, Health and Fitness, Flight Technology, Information Technology, Laser Technology, Mechanisms, Robotics, Structural Engineering, Video Production, and Virtual Architecture.  This course is for the student that enjoys technology and the self-paced environment of the Paxton Patterson lab.

TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION (Traditional) - This course is a combination of traditional technology education themes of communication, construction, manufacturing, and transportation focusing on construction,  communication, and energy and power.  The curriculum builds on the skills of design, physics, and wood learned in 6th and 7th grades.  Students will explore the layout, design, architecture, sight layout, and energy and power requirements needed to construct buildings in a project based  environment.  This course is for the student who enjoys hands-on building and construction.
