Homework Tips & Hints

Parent Strategies --- here is a list of simple things all parents can do to support your student:

v Provide consistent time and place for guided study and homework completion

· Possibly set up a quiet space in your home with pencils, paper, and supplies for doing work

v Talk with your child about school daily

v Ask to look at assignment notebook to monitor assignment completion

v Offer support and guidance for long-term projects and assignments

· Map out assignment on large wall calendar, make calendar for specific project, To Do list, etc

v Access additional resources as needed

· Homework Help Center, Parent Connect, Classroom Teacher, Guidance Counselor, etc.

v Encourage student to follow their Student Academic Agreement

v Offer incentives to celebrate success

· Note: WMS is not advocating monetary rewards

« Note: At the middle level, you should expect your student to spend time on homework daily. If you feel your student is spending an excessive amount of time on daily homework, please contact your student’s team member to share your concerns.
