 College/ Career Prep Timeline

Use the timeline below as your guide to preparing for post high school planning

8th Grade:

    Begin thinking about the high school classes that will prepare you for post high school plans. Take the most difficult classes you can handle.

    Ask your parents or teachers to help you develop good study habits.

    Take the EXPLORE test to help prepare for the ACT, the college entrance test you will take your Junior year.

    Practice setting and reaching goals in your courses.

    Take WisCareers interest and skill inventory (Career Snapshot) to help you think about possible career options.

    Talk with your parents about careers that interest you.

    Create a tentative high school class plan (4 year plan of study).

    Request classes for freshman year based upon career interests / post high school plans

    Attend the Open house for Whitnall High School (January) to tour and learn more about WHS & activities

    Meet with your counselor and parent in Falcon Summit.

    Enroll in a summer enrichment program.

    Establish goals for your freshman year, plan to get involved in high school and have a strong start.

    Volunteer in your community.
