General Rules: Students are to:
· Be in the classroom when the bell rings.
· Be prepared with supplies, books, assignments, and the right attitude.
· Be nice.
· Follow the Guidelines for English Class provided to you at the beginning of the semester.
Department Rules Regarding Assignments:
· Assignments are due when requested by the teacher.
· Students who turn in late assignments will receive reduced credit as determined by individual teachers.
· Students who do not turn in an assignment will receive a 0.
· If a student is absent on the day an assignment is due, the assignment is to be turned in on the day the student returns to class.
· If a student is absent on the day an assignment is given, the student has one day for each day absent, plus one additional day, to turn in the assignment.
· A long term assignment such as an essay, speech, or project is due on the assigned day. If a student is absent on the day a long term assignment is due, the assignment is due the day he/she returns to class.
· Major assignments such as essays and speeches are required. Students will fail the semester if major assignments are not completed.
· If a major assignment is late, the student will earn no higher than a 59%.
