Peer Helpers

Advisor:   Mrs. Callender

  • Are role models in anti-smoking, anti-alcohol and anti-drug education
  • Educate H. S. students about the dangers of cigarette & alcohol use
  • Educate elementary & middle school students about good decision making, dangers of smoking or alcohol use.
  • Help their peers at school through new student orientation, school tours, shadow days
    Help students with special needs, like tutoring
  • Volunteer in the community

Time Commitment:

  • Students are asked to have a study hall each semester, and be willing to give some time each week in tutoring or assisting students with academic needs
  • If you do not have a study hall you are asked to coordinate one volunteer opportunity for the peer helpers either in or out of school
  • Meet once every other week after school -  may become weekly if needed
  • Participate in Anti-Alcohol/Drug Training field trip during the school day
  • Occasional meetings after school to coordinate with other peer helpers
  • Visit elementary and middle schools in the area for educational purposes
  • Peer tutoring during your study hall or after school
  • Occasional evenings for school informational nights
  • Volunteer opportunities on weekends as planned

Sophomores, juniors and seniors can apply to be a part of the program in the fall semester.  See Mrs. Callender if you are interested.
