  • Do you have a taste for adventure?
  • Can you put yourself in someone else's  shoes?
  • Are you interested in learning about other cultures?
  • Did you ever wish that you had a brother or sister?
  • (For a week....for a year.)

If you can answer yes to any of these questions, then this organization is for you.  The whole idea came from American Field Service volunteer ambulance drivers who served in WW’s I and II.  They wanted an international exchange program for high school students to be their peace-time contribution to humanity.  For forty years, A.F.S. has been offering intercultural exchange programs for high school students in over sixty countries around the world.  Whether A.F.S. programs are year, semester, or
summer, they are exciting, enjoyable, and involving opportunities.

Here at Whitnall, A.F.S. has been active for over twenty-five years, and many students have experienced the most unforgettable times of their lives, either through hosting or by actually participating in one of the exchange programs.  Both the student and the adult chapters work together to support our exchange students, both here and abroad, thus encouraging the friendships formed to last a lifetime.

Membership is open to grades 9-12.  Members are offered opportunities to learn about other cultures, to understand different values, and to take a new look at our ever-shrinking world.

Meetings are held once per month, September through May, on the second Tuesday of the month.
