ARROWHEAD MEET

December 10th

Our first meet of the new season.  We brought four girls to the meet, three being new to the sport.  Veteran Linnzy Gely placed first with Colleen Barnstable and Arissa Bond placing second and Madi Choppa taking third.  Both Linnzy and Collen qualified for the State Championships.  Congratulations to all the girls.

For the fourth year in a row our varsity took first.  Notable first place lifters where Danny voelkel (114), last yrs 2nd place finisher at state, Zach Harenda (123), Ryan Slattery (181), and Alex Hardy (220) also second at last yrs. state meet.  This year we had all but one weight class (132) filled.  Those that qualified for state where:  Danny Voelkel, Zach Harenda, Nate Stemo, Danny Bigalke, Drake Ambroch, Alex Hardy, and Jake Hardy.  Congrats to these lifters.

JV placed first also with top performer Steven Bonin along with Jeremiah Krueger, Michael Kremer, Jordan Jones, and Luke Bennett.  Congrats to the JV team for such a great job.

Whitnall Invitational

Feb.18th

Our third annual meet.  With the state qualifiers out to help with the meet the JV team came through win yet another win.  Everyone did well.  Matt Bublitz, Leah, Cassey Haas, and Connor Perry all qualified for the state meet.  Once again our Whitnall parents came through for our meet.  It is because of our parent volunteers that make our meet such a success.  With the regional season completed we turn toward this year's state championships which will be held at South Milwaukee on March 9-10.

2012 State Championships

South Milwaukee

With Alex Hardy out with a broken hand there were questions about a "4 peat" this year.  After the first session it seemed as we were well on our way to another state title.  Sophmore Danny Voelkel won 114, Zach Harenda placed 2nd and the rest of the meet went our way.  The questions and concerns I had at the start of the season where put to rest as the Division 2 trophy was awarded to Whitnall.

2012

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Wisconsin Dells

We took 11 qualifiers, one girl, two JV, and eight varsity.  We had one state but this is the Nationals.  I was looking for individuals to step up and set PR's.  Yet all varsity, in fact all lifters, placed in the top 10.  We could only score 8, not a full team.  As the team point totals where called it started at 31 pts, we thought 62 might not be enough.  After second was called, 54 pts we knew we had it.  This year's team is the most over-achieving team I have ever seen.  Could not be happier for them.
