Saturday, 26-Dec-2009: Arrive WHS by 7AM - baggage checks before we load anything. We will plan to depart WHS by 8 AM.
Sunday, 27-December: Arrive Orlando. Spend the day at Universal Studios and/or Islands of Adventure
Monday, 28-December: Morning mass band rehearsal followed by a dance and awards ceremony in the evening ..... Oh, and a side trip to the Kennedy Space Center somewhere in-between!
Tuesday, 29-December: Mass band rehearsal followed by the Champs Bowl Game
Wednesday, 30-December: Day at Universal Studios and/or Islands of Adventure with the Universal Studios Macy's Parade. Leave for home after the parade.
Thursday, 31-December: Arrive Whitnall High School.
The fee includes 3 nights lodging in Orlando, 2-day hopper pass for Universal Studios, ticket to the Champs Sports Bowl game, coach bus transportation to orlando (and back)
Reviewing the Universal Orlando tickets, it states that Photo ID is required. Everyone has to sign their ticket and each time we enter the park they have to resign the ticket. Then it says photo ID required. I'm not sure if that is only if they question the signature, but please make sure your child has their driver's license or school ID card with them and available.
The projected weather forecast for Orlando the day we arrive is 63 with a low of 57. Game day is projected to be about the same. It will be warming up to 70 supposedly on Wednesday, the day we are in the parade and the day we leave.
Please make sure you / your child has packed in their carryon bag whatever they will need for 24 hours. If they are planning on changing clothes before going to Universal Studios park they will have to have those along. Likewise if they plan on carrying a sweatshirt or something they will need to keep that out too. We will not be able to go into the suitcases until Sunday evening at the hotel.
MEALS:
Be aware that you / your child will have to have food money to cover three meals at fast food restaurants on the following days:
Saturday - December 26 and Sunday morning December 27
Breakfast / brunch on game day December 29
Dinner on game day December 29 (concessions style)
Lunch at Universal Studios on the 30th (if they don't save a food voucher),
AND two to three fast food meals on the 31st.
On the way back, we should be stopping for breakfast and lunch. We may not be stopping anywhere for supper depending on how soon we anticipate arriving at Whitnall. Because we had such successful fundraisers, each child will also be given a $5 bill towards food. It's not a lot, but it is one extra perk over and above the meals we have already planned. Don't tell them though, let's let the kids be pleasantly surprised.
For any of you who volunteered to help with luggage check, please come as close to 7:00 as possible. We have a list of about ten of you, but that's fine as I can use you all. Some people can help load, some can check suitcases, some can check carry-ons, some can check instrument cases. There will be plenty to do. If we can leave before 8:00, that is a bonus to us.
