Board Policy 8600 is in regards to transportation and most often defers to state statute. Whitnall School District contracts with First Student Inc. for the district's transportation needs. The following is a list of our hazardous areas across the District, as determined by the County Sheriff's office, that require transportation even though state statute does not make it mandatory. Transportation Rates:
Provided there is room on any Whitnall school bus, students not required to be first transported by the District, may buy a pass through the District Office on a first come first serve basis at a rate set by the School Board through a formula determined by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Most often this is done in early August, dependent upon when Board meetings occur. No passes shall be sold that exceeds the bus capacity set by the District or that significantly extends the length of the route.
Open Enrollment Students:
Consistent with State Statutes, open enrollment students shall be responsible for their own transportation
Routes:
Bus routes are determined by First Student Inc. and predominantly try to drop students of at corners and intersections in order to provide the least amount of time that students are on the bus.
