The purpose of the WHITNALL CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT PLAN is to assure the community that a quality educational program with opportunities for each student is in place and reviewed annually. Using an ongoing improvement model means that the District is continually assessing each goal area to determine what needs to be improved and what needs to be enhanced. Yearly goals and initiatives are developed by the District staff in conjunction with the building level staff to integrate the goals and initiatives with the District's mission and common purpose which is continually improving student achievement.
DISTRICT MISSION STATEMENT: The Mission of the Whitnall School District is to prepare our children to be lifelong learners by providing quality education through a cooperative relationship among school, home, and community enabling them to meet future challenges and to be contributing members of society.
BASIC CONCEPTS: The success of the Whitnall School District is founded in the belief that all students can learn; and, all students should be provided a quality academic program of excellence. The key planning concepts include: the goal of continually assessing student knowledge for ongoing improvement; the goal of shared leadership meaning all staff are responsible for student success; the goal of continually studying student data and results to specifically target how to best accomplish ongoing improvement in student achievement; and, the belief that ongoing student success needs a collective and collaborative environment for positive change to occur.
STANDING EDUCATIONAL GOALS: The District has approved standing educational goals for instruction with the philosophy of focusing on preparing our students to meet and exceed state and national standards. The District's educational goals are developed in the following areas: Independent Learning Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Citizenship and Global Education (See School Board Policy # 111/310 Standing Educational Goals).
STANDING DISTRICT GOALS: The Standing District Goals are the foundation for the goals and initiatives developed yearly. These yearly goals/initiatives also serve as the foundation for the building level and staff goals developed each year. The Standing District Goals are developed in the six areas cited below.
